Simple variation on a leopard theme

(Well, I'm still learning the Blog technical side.  Apparently my Polyvore boards post immediately to my blog.  Must fix that.  I intended to post this with the pictures I'm adding now!)
I sometimes get stuck on one combination for a particular piece of clothing.  I come up with a look I like, like the black moto jacket with skinnies and boots, and that's the only time the moto comes out of the closet.  So after getting some online inspiration, I made a subtle variation and suddenly, I have two outfits not one!  This could be expanded upon infinitely for sure.

Simple variation on a leopard theme

Here are my two looks.  In my eyes, the boots give it a edgier feel and the flats make it softer.  You can adjust according to your mood.  Somedays I just can't rock moto and boots!  I only made a couple of adjustments: Jacket zipped or unzipped; scarf untied or infinity looped (if you don't know how to make a long scarf work as an infinity scarf heres a how to on the fabulous CStyle Blog); boots or flats.

So a question "Is this scarf too fluffy?"  I am considering taking a seam ripper and undoing all the gathering.  I can't decide.  Here's a close up of the scarf.  Let me know.

Thanks for stopping by What I didn't do today!

Comfort Food

Tonights post is all about food.  Spoiler alert: you will be hungry by the time you finish reading this.  These are  a few of my favorite food finds from Pinterest.  Most of these recipes come from Blogs so be sure to check them out and FOLLOW if you are a foodie.

Who Doesn't love a Wedge Salad?
Morton's Wedge Salad Recipe

Made this tonight and it was so delicious and easy.  Used a raspberry pure fruit spread instead of cranberry sauce.
Pioneer Woman's Cranberry Pork Tenderloin Recipe

My kids love the Chinese take-out beef and broccoli.  This is an inexpensive and slightly healthier version. And kid tested and approved.
Rainy Day Gal Beef with Broccoli
I made this one with a chocolate cake instead of the butter cake because I can't really do dessert without chocolate.  It turned out yummers.  I will definitely be trying the original version soon.
Add a Pinch's Butter Cake with Salted Caramel Frosting
You know I'm a fan of crescent roll crack-a-lackin' yum recipes.
Mama Loves Food Crescent Roll French Dip
Well, its worth a try.  Healthy chocolate? Okay if its as good as it looks I'll be eating dessert every night!
Monica's Healthified Texas Sheet Cake

Started with a salad; ended with a salad.  Hmmm, wonder what that says about me?  Well this one has bacon and cheese too!  Doesn't this look divine.
 Carlyn's Apple Walnut Bacon Salad

I have no outfit to post from the weekend.  I was too busy watching and photographing soccer.  Super fun with the family.  I hope to "bring it" with the ensemble and the NEW CAMERA this week.

Love Fridays. Love my fun tshirt from Forever xvi. They have some great graphic tees right now that arent too cheesy or juvenile.

Later that night... Darling Boy and I shared some sushi at our favorite local spot Sushi Cafe!

on the FLOR

didn't get dressed today.  Well, not in the sense of anything fashion worthy.  I had a crazy day Wednesday from breakfast meeting to lunch meeting to dinner meeting to dinner after the dinner meeting.  I think I had a pretty good day to evening look taking inspiration from a Pinterest outfit, but no time for photography.  Today I was looking for laid back, get dirty, get ready for the weekend wear.  Yup, the old standby Juicy Couture tracksuit exited the closet.  Success! I managed to mop the floors, have a lunch date with my hubby, finish my Flor project, and shoot some hoops with the littles.

I LOVE Flor.  It's an amazing product as far as I'm concerned.  About a million combinations can be created from their colorful, textural product.  Today I installed my second FLOR rug in the dining room.  It's so simple. First you unpack the FLOR tiles and FLOR dots (big round stickers).

This pattern is fairly new and its called Lasting Grateness.  It also comes in Black and White and a super striking Red and White.  This one is called Palm.  I LOVE it!!  Next you simply lay out the tiles and arrange them into the pattern you want.  I used an alternating orientation or 90 degree turn to create my pattern.  From there you follow the easy 1.2.3. instructions and voila, a lovely originalish decor piece.  I mean no two truly are the same!!

HOOPS!

Oh and here's my Pinspiration for my Wednesday outfit.  I'm sure you have these pieces in your closet too.
Lots of Great Looks at this Blog

Election Day

Woke up feeling patriotic!  Happy Election Day 2012!  Election related fact about me: the year I was born President Nixon signed the constitutional amendment that lowered the voting age to 18.  A year later my parents voted for the first time for candidate George McGovern.  He didn't win! Nixon did, good choice Mom and Dad.
I got all the littles to dress in red, white and blue and to pump up their enthusiasm I sang patriotic songs!  (This really pleased the Tween).  My patriotic morning continued with my son's 4th grade play - "Celebrate the Vote" in which he played the part of Frederic Bartholdi, the sculptor who designed the Statue of Liberty.  From there straight to my voting precinct site!  I hope four years from now we look back on this day and are pleased with our nation's choice.  God Bless America!

Here's the Boden Look that inspired my Election Day outfit.

Here's what I wore.

Another option was this ensemble by the oh, so popular and ever imitiable Atlantic-Pacific.

Snack Attack

So I didn't wash my hair today.  I really had a long to to list and there was only time for a quick shower and make-up.  I fell back on a favorite product.  Dry shampoo.  I am not ashamed.  Years ago my mom used to put baby powder in her hair on a rushed school morning.  At that tender and egotistical age, I thought it was SO WEIRD.  Now I get it!  And lacking a personal stylist who would blow-dry my hair while I type my blog, I get down with some spray.

Suave Keratin Salon Infusion Dry Shampoo
Available at most drug stores

Then there's the matter of clothes, again not wanting to use up too much time composing an outfit and the small matter of 80 degree weather in November left me with fewer options.  I decided to try the boyfriend jeans and wedge booties look.  I added a striped short sleeve sweater as an alternative to a t-shirt and shot on some accessories and headed to the grocery store.

Gap Sweater - not available online but similar here, Banana Republic belt - old, again a newer version, Target jeans- old, similar here at Gap and booties.  Accessories various.
After my various to-do's and trip the grocery store,  I started on a baking project.  My friend Mimi turned me and my kiddos on to these crack-a-lackin' delicious crescent roll goodies.  Today I made a savory version - turkey or ham with cheese and two sweet versions - peanut butter chocolate chip and caramel apple.  You can find these and other recipes on Pinterest. I'm trying a French dip version next.

Can of crescent rolls, deli meat your choice,  and cheese, your choice.
I used about one and a half slices of meat and an ounce of cheese for each triangle.  Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or til golden brown.
For the sweet version, I used a tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter, a tablespoon of semi-sweet morsels and brushed with butter then sprinkled with white sugar.  I also did some with one caramel and a honeycrisp peeled apple slice brushed with butter and sugar.  Bake same as savory.
The result a yummy after school Snack Attack!  They all turned out wonderful.  I would probably cut up my caramel next time or soften before baking but the apples were perfect. And all the other ingredients were the right amount of hot and melty!

The finished product.  Now if I can just not eat them before the kids get home!
